Where CG can make a difference.

Explore the impact of cardiac output on clinical decision making during this session dedicated to haemodynamic monitoring. We will discuss how its accurate assessment can transform the management of critically ill patients, optimising treatments and improving outcomes.

Fluid overload and congestion

In this talk, the physiological mechanisms behind fluid overload, a critical factor when performing haemodynamic monitoring, will be discussed. It will address the consequences and strategies for the appropriate management of these patients, providing tools and advice for early diagnosis and effective intervention.

Windkessel model. Cardiovascular Physiology, Hemodynamic Monitoring and the Critical Patient.

This short lecture will explore the Windkessel Model, a graphical approach to understanding cardiovascular physiology and the mechanisms of blood flow control in the cardiovascular system. This model, inspired by physical principles, allows to simulate the behaviour of the arterial system and how it responds to variations in pressure and flow during the cardiac cycle. Its key components, evolution over time and relevance in modern clinical practice will be explained. In addition, its importance in understanding advanced haemodynamic monitoring will be discussed.

Dynamic hemodynamic monitoring

This presentation deals with “dynamic” hemodynamic monitoring, covering the importance of haemodynamic monitoring, especially in the critically ill patient. The different factors that influence it, the importance of carrying it out and its importance in shock will be discussed. It will also reflect on how to achieve a precise and individualised management for each of the different phases of the patient’s shock.

Sergi Tormo

Specialist in Intensive Care Medicine at the Hospital Universitario y PolitƩcnico de la Fe (Valencia), passionate about advanced hemodynamic monitoring and hemodynamic management of the critical patient.

Role of nursing in Hemodynamic Monitoring

This online session addresses a key question for any Hemodynamic Monitoring team: What is the role of the nurse in this process? Ɓngel Ruiz, nurse at the Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Victoria, explains haemodynamic monitoring techniques, the importance of the pulse pressure wave, vascular access care and knowledge of the technique and its consumables as four key pillars to answer this question.

This session is aimed at nursing professionals, as well as any other professional looking to improve communication and cooperation in their work team.

The importance of PVC (part I)

Is PVC a “useless parameter” for monitoring? Dr. Paco EscribĆ” seeks to answer this false myth through this brief lecture, where he addresses different scenarios where this parameter has a great influence.

The importance of dynamic elastance (part II)

How can dynamic elastance help us to improve the haemodynamic management of our patient? In this talk, Dr. Paco EscribĆ” continues the line of the previous talk and addresses this and other key parameters for the professional when monitoring critical patients.

Flow and perfusion parameters

This lecture will discuss the importance of measuring and optimising blood flow and perfusion in critically ill patients. The main parameters for assessing circulatory status and oxygen transport to tissues will be explored, as well as advanced monitoring techniques to obtain accurate real-time data. The speaker will share strategies for adjusting treatment based on these parameters, highlighting their impact on improving clinical outcomes and decision-making in highly complex situations.

Advanced Hemodynamics in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Aortic Aneurysm

This lecture explores the crucial role of advanced hemodynamics in the diagnosis and management of aortic aneurysm. We will discuss how modern technologies and detailed haemodynamic measurements help to identify risks, predict progression and guide therapeutic interventions. We will review key parameters that impact decision making, such as wall stress, blood flow and pulsatile pressure, and how these influence surgical or endovascular planning.
